UK employers thrilled about the return of the Post Study Work Visa

It is not just the international students who benefit from the reintroduction of the Post Study Work Visa. Employers in the UK also are thrilled about the return of the Visa.

Employers hesitated to hire foreign students without the 2-year Post Study Work Visa due to high salary thresholds. However, that is all set to change. Karan Bilimoria, UK Member of Parliament, says that international students will now find no difficulty in getting hired. Not only can they obtain valuable work experience but also contribute to the UK economy.

The new Post Study Work Visa will allow international graduates to work in any position or occupation of their choice. Students enrolling for the 2020-21 session will especially benefit from the same, as per the Economic Times.

Sanam Arora, Chairperson of NISAU, UK, says that the UK had been one of the top choices among international students in the past. The termination of the Post Study Work Visa in 2011 badly affected the enrolment of foreign students in the UK. However, with the return of the Visa and the anti-immigration rhetoric of the US, the UK can soon gain back its lost spot for attracting foreign students.

Many favoured countries allow international students to stay back in the country after course completion. The US offers the OPT for 36 months and Australia offers the Subclass 485 Visa for up to 4 years. Canada, too, has the Post-graduate Work Visa for up to 3 years. With the reintroduction of the Post Study Work Visa, UK will also be back in the competition.

Tom Birtwistle, Director of British Council, says the new immigration change will make the UK an attractive proposition for Indian students. Employability prospects hold maximum importance when an Indian student considers investing in studying abroad. The UK already had world-class teaching faculty, research and other facilities. The return of the Post Study Work Visa will help Indian students earn and start an international career in the UK.
