Rishi Sunak becomes Britain’s next prime minister after defeating Penny Mordaunt, and Borris Johnson in the race. The current biggest task in front of him is to handle the economic downturn of the country. Rishi is a big-shot politician in Westminster and becomes the country’s first leader of color by replacing Liz Truss, who lasted as the UK Prime Minister for 44 days and resigned. The decision of Rishi Sunak becoming Prime Minister seems to be a historic one in the UK’s political history and has received immense support and accolades. The British government’s bond prices and the pound rates have bounced high during this decision and soon have returned to the previous levels.
Rishi Sunak becomes the third prime minister in less than two months to restore the stability of the country which is reeling from economic and political turmoil for years. He will also be inheriting a political party to reconstruct the damaged fortunes. Rishi Sunak’s successor Truss served just for six weeks before she resigned over an economic policy that trashed the credibility of the country’s economy. Several economists have shown their high hopes for him as he is all set to tackle the country’s finances.
Rishi Sunak received fame and attention globally when he became finance minister at the age of 39 under Johnson. During the 1960s, Rishi’s family migrated to the UK after the Second World War. After completing his graduation from Oxford University, for higher studies, he then went to Stanford University, where he met his wife Akshata Murthy, daughter of Indian billionaire N.R. Narayana Murthy. He is the founder of the giant outsourcing company, Infosys Ltd.
