Saudi Arabia to offer E-Umrah Visa to Overseas Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia is among the sacred places for Overseas Pilgrims. They apply for Umrah Visa for religious pilgrimage. The demand for the same has prompted the Saudi Ministry to plan for an electronic Visa system. The Ministry has announced plans to issue the E-Umrah Visa to simplify the process.

Overseas Pilgrims will be able to apply for the E-Umrah Visa online. This reduces the time and effort wasted in visiting the Saudi Diplomatic Mission. The process can be completed online. The undersecretary of the Ministry, Abdul Aziz Wazan said they will ensure that Overseas Pilgrims get the best service. Starting from arriving in the nation to performing rituals to returning home, the pilgrims will get the best treatment.

Mr. Wazan added that the E-Umrah Visa would be linked to the Government agencies. Hence, tracking the services provided to them would be easy. The E-Umrah Visa will be launched in the next few months. Until then, Overseas Pilgrims must apply for a Hajj or Umrah Visa.

Female pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia should be accompanied by a family member. It could be their father, brother or son. The male Immigrant must be over 18 years.

As reported by The News, this initiative is part of a bigger plan. Saudi Government wants to strengthen the Tourism Department. It will open up doors for Overseas Immigrants. Back in 2013, then had announced the launch of Tourist Visa.

However, the plan was stalled temporarily. It was then revived in 2016. The aim is to diversify the country’s economy. The Government wants Overseas Immigrants to come and help the country’s economy.

The E-Umrah Visa would be open for Overseas Pilgrims from countries like the US, Australia, South Africa. They must fill out the application form online. Payment can be made via any credit or debit card. The Saudi Immigration Department will review the application. The applicants will receive the E-Umrah Visa by email. The online form includes many questions based on -

• Candidate’s name
• Their address
• Date of birth
• Passport details
• Health
• Security
• Travel itinerary
