Every county in the world has its own set of processes to welcome immigrants. Singapore stands 9th in inviting immigrants from all over the world. According to 2019 reports, Singapore has 2.16 immigrants from various countries globally, out of the total population of 5.7 million. The 2022 net migration rate is 4.570 per 1000 population in Singapore.
Since April 26, the migrant workers working in Singapore's labor-intensive sectors and living in dormitories are now allowed out on weekends and public holidays in the communities. Initially, this number was just 30000 now it has been raised to 50000.
Important step by the Ministry of Health (MOH)
For weekdays the limit for the migrants has been raised to 25000 from 15000 now.
This step of the Ministry of Health (MOH) helps the migrant workers who pay out 8 hours every time, whether on a weekday or a weekend. These migrants are basically from India, China, and Bangladesh.
There have been vaccination control checks before, as the world is now opening up and recovering from the pandemic. From April 26, the unvaccinated migrant workers are also permitted to resume activities on the community premises themselves. And there is a need to apply for the exit passes and pre-visit antigen rapid detection tests in any designated recreation centers and clubs. Earlier, unvaccinated migrants had to do all of these to go anywhere, even within the community.
The vaccinated ones have been doing this procedure since this month.
Except for the recreation centers, for many other places in Singapore, the migrant workers need to vaccinate or else must apply for the exit passes and specify their designated communities they belong to.

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will thoroughly administer the routine checks at the potential gathering spots and track the number of applications.
To ensure the migrants' health, there are still few control measures installed as they live in dormitories.
Singapore Finance Minister in his words....
Lawrence Wong, Finance Minister Singapore, has stated that “there are still few restrictions that have been imposed on migrant workers as the larger crowds share the dormitories, so they are at higher health risk. Because the migrants eat, live, and dine together, these restrictions are much needed for these shared communities. So, there are still facing the restrictions in visiting public places. But the rest of Singapore has been loosening up before only.”
Community visit program initiation
Since September 2021, the community visit program was initiated for the migrant workers, where every week, around 500 vaccinated migrant workers will be allowed to exit the dormitories so that they visit the designated public areas for the first time in the last one and a half years since the outburst of coronavirus.
MOM has retaken a rapid step in October 2021 for the vaccinated migrant workers by raising the number to 3000 for 500 in a week for selected communities.
