Skilled workers The Sunshine State of Australia, Queensland, has opened a migration path for skilled workers. For this program, the state government’s agency is responsible for the process regarding business and skilled visas. In October 2021, Queensland has invited candidates to register their Expression of Interest (EOI) for the following:
  • Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated visa
  • Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa
For this migration program, most of the skilled workers queued up to apply. They have received more than 3,000 expressions of interest (EOI) from onshore migrants. Highlights of the Queensland Program
  • Queensland Migration Program received more than 3,000 expressions of interest
  • Processing period might be delayed due to significant interest in the state's migration program
  • There are more than 500 occupations on the list for skilled workers to apply under for the skilled workers
There are many occupations in the list for skilled workers in this financial year, which are considered under state nomination. But it is difficult to categorize the top in-demand occupations because the processing times were delayed. Presently, Queensland Migration Program is open for onshore applicants, but the state agency has confirmed that it will be reviewed next month to declare the openings for offshore applicants.
“The option to open the program to offshore applicants is dependent on the occupation allocation availability and COVID-19 border restrictions impacting temporary visa applicants. This program will be reviewed in December 2021 by the Queensland Government migration policy arm, with a decision to be made in early 2022,” the spokesperson said.
The program for 2021–22, will be open until the 1,000 places are filled for the Skilled Nominated under Subclass 190 visa, whereas, for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) under Subclass 491 visa, 1,250 places were allotted.
According to the Migration Queensland website “If an application is not complete or contains out-of-date documents, these applications will not be considered. Due to the high demand, competitive nature, and the limited nomination quota of the Queensland skilled migration program, there is no guarantee you will be selected for state nomination, and you need to consider your alternative migration options.”
Queensland will be the last date in Australia to open its migration program for this financial year.
