South Africa Visas for Indians will be offered in just 7 days said hub Head of Tourism South Africa Neliswa Nkani. He was speaking at the inaugural of the last leg of their yearly road show in Kolkata. Our aim is to increase the number of Indian tourists to South Africa by twice, he added.
Neliswa Nkani elaborated on the latest measures taken by the department. This is with regards to reforming and simplifying the South Africa Visas application process.
We are working in partnership with the Consulate of South Africa for easing Visa procedures said Nkani. It is aimed to speed up applications to ensure quick processing in 5 to 7 days. Less time is being taken by us by most of our competitors that take around 30 days, said Nkani.
The rally was held in Kolkata as the city had the lowest turnout of Indian visitors to South Africa in 2018. Mumbai’s contribution to the overall arrivals of Indians to South Africa was 45%. For Delhi, it was 17.4%, Chennai 7.7% and for Kolkata, it was just 1.6%, as quoted by the Millennium Post.
Derek Hanekom the Tourism Minister of South Africa visited Indian in January this year. He said that the Ministry was having plans to offer E-Visa process for South Africa Visas for boosting tourism.
We are waiting for the process of signatures between both the national Governments said Neliswa Nkani. So the E-Visas will take some time, he added. However, the Government of South Africa is putting extra efforts for simplification of Visa process, he said.
The South Africa Tourism Board is also holding discussions with the Government of India. This is for launching a direct air flight service from Delhi or Mumbai.
