According to a recent announcement by the Federal Council of Switzerland, the country will issue around 8,500 foreign skilled worker visas in 2025. Qualified foreign workers from third-world countries will get work and residence permits in Switzerland.
The authorities have also decided to issue a B-residence permit to around 4,500 workers, allowing them to stay for longer periods in the country. The remaining will get an L short-term residence permit in Switzerland. The current cap count aims to keep pace with Switzerland's economic and labor market demands.

Statistical data for 2023 and 2024 revealed that the foreign worker quotas were not fully used. The table below shows the details of Switzerland's Foreign Worker quotas:

The Swiss Authorities will continue to offer a special quota for workers from the UK having a passport and are considered as third country nationals. Foreign workers are to be recruited on the basis of economic needs of Switzerland as well as of EU/EFTA.
