Tata Consultancy Services is the lone Indian firm amongst the top 10 to receive the H-1B Visa Overseas Labor Certification. TCS received 20,000 certifications in 2018. This is as per the latest official data of the Labor Department in the US. The top ten firms for H-1B Visas OLC are topped by Ernst and Young.
Ernst and Young is a global professional services firm headquartered in London. It has emerged as the top firm to receive the OLCs for H-1B Visas.
Indian IT firms are among the major beneficiaries of the H-1B Program. Most of their employees are employed at 3rd party work sites through this Visa. A considerable number of commercial services, travel, and banking firms depend on Indian on-site workers.
Deloitte Consulting is the top second firm after Ernst and Young. It received 69, 869 OLCs under H-1B Visa program in 2018. Cognizant Technology Corp that is Indian-American owned is at the 3rd position with 47, 732 OLCs. It is followed by HCL America at the 4th place that received 42, 820 certifications. K Force Inc is at the 5th rank with 32, 996 OLCs. Apple is at the 6th position in the list with 26, 833 certifications, as quoted by the Outlook India.
The US Labor Department has revealed these statistics for the fiscal year 2018 that ended on 30 September. TCS received 20, 755 H-1B Specialty OLCs. It was followed by Qualcomm Technologies with 20, 723 certifications. Mphasis Corporation was the next in the list with 16, 671 OLCs. The other firm in the top 10 is Capgemini America with 13, 517 certifications.
Office of Overseas Labor Certification of the Labor Department processed 654, 360 applications in the 2018 fiscal year. This was under the Specialty Labor Conditions programs of the H-1B Visa program. Out of these, 599, 782 were certified, 45, 951 were withdrawn and 8, 627 were denied.
