New data from Schengen Visa Info has revealed that the Czech Republic received the maximum applications for Schengen Visa in 2018.

In 2018, Prague Consulates across the globe received more than 660,000 Schengen Visa applications. Poland was the second most popular destination in Europe receiving 518,000 Schengen Visa applications.

Almost a third of the Schengen Visa applications for the Czech Republic was received in Moscow, Russia.

Following the Czech Republic and Poland in the popular list was Lithuania. Lithuania received 353,000 applications out of which 201,000 were received from Minsk in Belarus alone.

229,000 Schengen Visa applications were received by Hungary. Estonia received 127,000 applications while Slovakia and Slovenia received 26,000 applications each. Countries which do not have a visa-liberalisation agreement with the countries in the Schengen Zone need to obtain a Schengen Visa for travelling to Europe. A Schengen Visa allows you to travel freely within the 26 member countries of the Schengen Zone, as per Emerging Europe.

However, for short-stays France receives the most number of visa applications than any other country in Europe. It received more than 4 million visa applications in 2018.
