The new UAE Tourist Visa to create 325,000 jobs

The UAE Cabinet recently approved a new multiple-entry Tourist Visa with a validity of 5 years for all countries. The new Tourist Visa is expected to have a major impact both regionally as well as globally.

The UAE is a popular holiday destination welcoming thousands of visitors every year. In October 2019, the UAE was ranked as the top country in the Middle East and 33^rd in the world for travel and tourism. The countries were ranked on 52 competitive indicators, including the stability of the country’s economy.

In 2019, more than 21 million tourists visited the UAE. Out of these, 15 million visited in the first six months of the year.

The tourism sector of the UAE contributed more than Dh 161 billion to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country. The UAE aims to achieve Dh 234 billion through tourism by 2027.

The tourism sector in the UAE plays an important role in job creation. The tourism industry provides around 325,000 jobs distributed across a wide range of tourism products. Most of these jobs are in hotels which include about 125,000 rooms in total.

Innovation has been vital in enhancing the tourism sector in the UAE. In recent years the UAE has added environment and agricultural tourism to its list which make up around 151 sites. The country has also been actively developing the tourism infrastructure, mainly in the shopping and entertainment areas. The country has also been hosting several regional and international events which will be highly represented in the Dubai Expo 2020.

The new 5-year Tourist Visa not only augments the UAE’s position as a major tourist hub but also increases confidence in the UAE economy.
