Canada Student Visa Canada has become a popular destination for students from around the world. The solid infrastructure, advanced curriculum, and well-equipped campuses of Canadian universities make this a destination of choice for study abroad. Here is the list of top ten universities in Canada in 2020:

1. University of Toronto

The first university in this list is the University of Toronto which is at 29th place in the QS world university rankings.  Based in Toronto, this university was established in 1827 and is a non-profit higher education institute that offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in various subjects.

2. McGill University

The second university in the list is McGill University which is placed at 35 in the QS rankings. International students account for approximately 25 percent of the total 40,000 students in the university. Founded in 1821, this university has a selective admission policy based on entrance exams and past academic records and grades of the students. 3. University of British Columbia The University of British Columbia ranks at 51st place in the QS rankings.  The two main campuses are located in Vancouver and Kelowna in British Columbia. The university has around 65,000 students, out of which more than 16,000 are international students. It has consistently ranked as one of the world’s top research institutes. 4. University of Alberta The University of Alberta is placed fourth among the top universities in Canada. The university is based in Edmonton. This university too has a selective admission policy like that of McGill University. The university offers multiple research and internship opportunities. 5. Université de Montréal The French-speaking Université de Montréal is placed at 137 in QS World University rankings. The university was started as a satellite campus of the Université Laval in 1878. It is the largest university in Quebec and the second-largest university in Canada. The university offers a wide variety of programs and has about 66,000 students. 6. McMaster University Placed at 140 in the QS rankings, this university-based in Ontario is famous for its medical school. Founded in 1887, the university adopts a problem-based, student-centered learning approach. 7. University of Waterloo The University of Waterloo was established in 1956 and is one of the younger universities in Canada. It is placed at 173 in the QS world university rankings. 8. Western University The Western University ranks at 211 in the QS rankings for 2020. Located in Ontario and founded in 1883, the university offers more than 400 courses and has more than 35,000 students. 9. University of Calgary The University of Calgary ranks at 233 in the QS world university rankings for 2020. Founded in 1944, it has five campuses including one in Doha, Qatar. It has a selective admission policy where the admission rate range is between 10 to 20 percent. 10. Queen's University Ranked 10th in Canada and 239 in the QS ranking for 2020, the Queen’s University is located in Ontario. Established in 1841, it is one of the oldest universities in Canada. Students from over 90 countries come to study here.
