The transforming US Work environment and skills have been revealed in a survey held for the US Labor Market. It was held by the Center for Organizational Excellence of the APA. 1, 076 US adults participated in the survey and were employed full time or part-time. The survey was titled as Career Development and Job Skills Training Survey.
The conversations for future of jobs are now dominated by AI, Automation and skills retraining. 43% of the employed residents said that they are concerned over the transforming nature of US Work. Overall, 87% of the working US population reported that they possess the skills needed for performing well at the current job.
61% of the respondents said that the employer is offering opportunities for development. This is for soft and technical skills needed for the future, as quoted by the APA Excellence Org.
The survey observed disparities between women and men viewing their opportunities for career development and training. Both women (85%) and men (89%) reported that they possess the tech skills required for performing well in their existing jobs. However, lesser women than men reported that their employer is equipping them with needed opportunities. This is for the required leadership, soft, or technical skills.
68% of the men said that their employer offered training for tech skills required in the future. The % of women respondents agreeing to this was 53%. 65% of the men reported training needed for future soft skills while 56% of women agree with this.
In spite of the above differences, lesser women than men are worried regarding transforming nature of US Work. This was evident with 49% men and 37% women.
