UK Graduate route to open for applications on July 1, 2021

The new UK Graduate route will be opening for applications on July 1, 2021, as part of the UK endeavor to retain the brightest and the best among its international students for continuing to contribute to the economy and society in the UK post-study.

Introduced under the new points-based UK immigration system, the new Graduate immigration route will be available to international students that had completed their degree in the UK.   International students on the Graduate route will be able to work or look for work [at any skill level] after their studies for up to a maximum period of 2 years. This will be 3 years in case of Doctoral students [that is, PhD graduates].   The new Graduate route will enable the UK government to achieve the ambition, laid down under the International Education Strategy, to increase the total number of international students in higher education in the UK to 600,000 by 2030.

The opening of the new Graduate route for applications on July 1, 2021 is as detailed in the Immigration Rules recently laid down in the UK Parliament.

For an international student to be able to apply to the UK Graduate route, they must have “completed an eligible course at a UK higher education provider”, along with possessing “a track record of compliance with the government’s immigration requirements”.

As the Graduate route will be working for the entire UK, thereby ensuring that communities in England, Northern Ireland, Wales, and Scotland might benefit through talented individuals that stay on in the UK after the completion of their studies.

With the new UK immigration pathway opening from July 1, 2021, international students will be able to easily secure the UK status required in order to continue living and working in the UK. Fulfilling their dreams in the process.

A job offer will not be required to apply for the route.

To be eligible for the Graduate route – ·         Applicants that had begun their studies in Autumn 2020 will now have until June 21, 2021 [previously this was until April 6, 2021] to enter the UK. ·         Those who began their studies in January/February 2021 will be required to be in the UK by September 27, 2021.
