Overseas immigrants who intend to work in UAE will require the UAE Work Visa. One of the immigrants has a query now. She has been working in UAE for the last 10 years under the sponsorship of her husband’s Visa. He has offered a NOC letter that she has submitted to her firm. But she does not have the UAE Work Visa. Her query now is that is she working illegally in the UAE.
Keren Bobker of the National AE responds to her query by saying that a wife is permitted to work in the UAE if sponsored by her husband. This is even of her visa states that she is not allowed to work. However, her husband has to give a No Objection Letter to the employer as her sponsor. The company need not have to offer a Visa. It must, however, apply for a Labour Card i.e. Work Permit.
UAE no longer offers physical labour cards. However, it is the obligation of the employer to follow the due process and apply for a Work Permit. It includes applying to the Tasheel Centre with copies of the NOC, photographs, visas, and appropriate fee. The fee normally starts at Dh 353 and varies based on the category of the company.
Both the parties are required to sign the employment contract. The individual will be working unlawfully unless a work permit is applied for. A fine can be imposed on both the parties.
Work Permit is recorded only online. The applicant must check with their local Tasheel office or Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation for appropriate record of the employment.
