95% of future US growth by 75 million more immigrants by 2060

The Census Bureau has projected that 95% of future US growth will be by 75 million more immigrants by 2060. The US population is estimated to reach 404 million by this year. Almost all of that net growth will be due to immigrants and their families, adds Census Bureau.

The US growth in terms of population will be 79 million more in 2060. Of this, 75 million will be lawful and unlawful immigrants and their families. This population is equal to that of Belgium and France combined.

The analysis of the Centre for Immigration Studies reveals the significance of immigration for the US. It says that the population of the US would increase by a mere 3.7 million in absence of immigration. This is the latest indication that the US is heading towards zero growth of the native population.

The CIS report elaborates that varying the immigration factor has a very huge impact on the future dimension of the US population. The report projects net immigration of 46.4 million during 2017 and 2060. It will create an overall US population of 404 million this year. This will be an addition of 79 million more than in 2017, as quoted by the Washington Examiner.

Nearly all of the increase after 2017 will be owing to immigration with 75 million. This implies immigrants that have not arrived yet. But these are the ones who will arrive in the future if there is no change in policy. The numbers are inclusive of their descendants. This is as per the report revealed by the CIS.

Some US politicians are already alarmed by the concerns that the nation will not produce adequate new nationals on its own. They have called for an increase in immigration. This is to ensure that there is adequate youth to fill future jobs.
