The US launches a new form to report immigration fraud

The USCIS has launched a new online form which the public can use to report immigration fraud. The new form is available on the USCIS website. The form can be used to report immigration benefit fraud or abuse.

Joseph Edlow, Deputy Director of the USCIS, said that safeguarding the immigration system of the US is the foremost priority of the Trump Govt and is the USCIS’ central mission. He said that the best way to protect the immigration system is to make it easy for the general public to report immigration fraud or abuse. With the new online form, reporting fraud becomes more robust and efficient.

The online form would provide the required information to the USCIS to investigate and address the abuse of the immigration system. It would also be instrumental in helping the federal partners prosecute those accused of immigration fraud.

The new online form collects information pertaining to immigration fraud. It also determines the type of benefit in question. There is also an extra space for the user to provide details about the alleged fraud or abuse.

The USCIS earlier had three email addresses to report cases of fraud or immigration abuse. The new online form replaces these email addresses. The new form will make tipping the USCIS regarding immigration fraud more efficient and effective.

The USCIS says that it receives several reports of immigration fraud every day. However, earlier, it was not possible for them to act on all such reports in a consistent and timely manner. Some allegations were found to be true while others were not. The USCIS needed a more efficient way to collect information to act upon these reports.

The USCIS, however, said that whatever reports it had received over email till date would be dealt with. Those who have emailed the USCIS regarding an immigration fraud need not again report it via the online form.

Once the USCIS closes the emails, people who report fraud through emails will receive a bounce-back message. The message will notify that the emails have been deactivated and provide them with the link to the online form.
