Immigrants no longer have the headache of large amounts of cash payment for US immigration procedures. USCIS has now begun to accept Credit Cards from immigrants for 41 fee-based forms.
Immigrants had to till now pay the accompanying fees in cash MO or a U.S. financial institution cashier's check. This included applications for Naturalization or Employment Authorization, as quoted by the Miami Herald.
US Citizen and Immigration Services has now begun to accept credit cards for immigration applications. It is accepting Discover, American Express, MasterCard, and Visa cards without extra fees.
The immigrant applicants will need a completed copy of Form G-1450 of the USCIS. This authorizes transactions through credit cards. They are the required to affix G-1450 on the top of the documents.
The payments will be processed by the USCIS through the system of Pay.gov. This is used by several agencies of the government and managed by the US Treasury Department.
USCIS said that the new system of payment will benefit even Naturalization applicants. Those who are replacing or renewing their Green Cards will also be benefitted, it added.
The additional benefit of the new system is that it permits 3rd party payments for the applications of immigrants. This is as long the cardholder fills forms G-1450 and lodges them with the filing.
Each request or application sent to USCIS must be accompanied by individual G-1450 form. This holds well even if the same credit card will be used for diverse procedures.
Usage of 2 credit cards will also be allowed by the USCIS. This is to cater to the challenges with limits for credit cards. One G-1450 form for each card must be submitted by the applicants. They must also indicate the amount to be charged for each card.
