VFS resumes Biometrics Appointment in India

As per a latest update by VFS Global, with effect from February 24, 2021, Canada visa applicants that have submitted their visa application “under Economic PR (E or EP), can enrol biometrics at Canada Visa Applications Centres in India”.

A prior appointment – to be booked online – will be needed for visiting the VAC in person for the purposes of enrolling biometrics.

Based on a contract awarded by the Government of Canada, VFS Global provides Canadian visa application support services through the medium of a network of Canada Visa Application Centres [VACs].   The Canada VACs are authorised to provide administrative support, which includes enrolling biometrics for Canada visa applications.   The decision to grant or refuse a visa is the sole prerogative of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC].

This latest update by VFS Global will be in addition to the ongoing biometrics for Canada visa applications lodged for any of the following categories –

• Family class priority [spouses, partners, children]
• Student
• Workers
• Returning students and workers.

Returning Workers and Returning Student applying for a visa at VFS India will be required to book an appointment using their present study permit or work permit application number – starting either with an S or W – that is mentioned on their new permit document.

In order to confirm their status as a returning Student or Worker, the applicant must ensure to take their valid permit document along with their Biometric Instruction letter [BIL] when they visit the VAC.

In view of the COVID- pandemic, the Visa Application Centres in India will be offering limited services until further notice.
