How can Indians get a visa-on-arrival in Saudi Arabia?

Saudi Arabia has decided to ease Visa rules for Indian travellers travelling to the desert kingdom. Certain Indian travelling to the Gulf nation will now be eligible for a visa-on-arrival.

 

If you are an Indian passport holder with a valid UK, US or Schengen Visa and travelling by Saudi national carrier, you may be eligible for the visa-on-arrival facility. The eligibility criteria for such visa holders is that they should have visited the Visa issuing country prior to visiting Saudi Arabia via the Saudi national carrier.

 

Saudi Arabia, for the first time in its history, launched the Tourist Visa in September last year. With it, the conservative kingdom opened up its gate to holidaymakers from across the globe. Saudi Arabia aims to use tourism to diversify its economy from its over-reliance on oil.

 

Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Bin Salman had launched the Vision 2030 initiative. Developing the tourism sector in Saudi Arabia has been one of the key highlights of the Vision 2030 initiative. The Vision 2030 initiative aims to prepare the desert kingdom for a post-oil era. Its primary focus is to push the Saudi economy away from its heavy reliance on oil.

 

Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Chief of Tourism, said that opening the gates of Saudi Arabia to global tourism has been a historic moment for the country. He claims that the country will surprise visitors with the treasures that it has to share. Besides breathtaking natural beauty, Saudi Arabia has a vibrant local culture. It is also home to five UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
