Young Professionals Category Work Permit Holders to receive extra CRS points

IRCC has recently announced that IEC work permit holders under the Young Professionals Category can still receive extra CRS points if they have a valid job offer. Candidates under the Young Professional Category can receive the extra 50 or 200 CRS points for having a valid job offer in Canada.

On December 18, 2025, IRCC announced that International Experience Canada (IEC) Work Permit Holders are no longer eligible to get extra CRS points for Express Entry applications. However, work permits issued before December 18, 2024, can continue to get additional points for Express Entry applications.

Implications for Young Professionals Having IEC Work Permit

Foreign nationals with IEC Work Permit under the Young Professionals category can receive extra CRS points if:

• The job offer is listed under the NOC TEER 0 or 00 (200 additional points)
• The job offer is listed under other NOC TEER categories (50 additional points)

The Canadian government will implement the removal of CRS Points for LMIA-approved job roles in spring 2025.
