Canada PR in 2020 through RNIP

You can get Canada PR in 2020 through RNIP. The government of Canada announced the launch of the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot in a News Release dated June 14, 2019.

 

As per the News Release, the Pilot is for 11 communities to “attract newcomers” for supporting “middle-class jobs”.

 

Faced by a declining birth rate and an aging population, Canada is looking for ways and means for filling the gap in the labour force. While many immigrants have come to Canada in the recent past, a majority have preferred settling down in prominent cities rather than heading towards the regional areas.

 

With the specific aim of directing the flow of migrants to the regional areas in Canada, the federal government launched the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) in 2017.

 

Encouraged by the success of the Pilot, a 2-year extension of the AIPP was announced in March 2019. The changes to the requirements for temporary work permit applications were to come into effect from May 2019 onwards.

 

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) is another attempt by the Canadian government at motivating newcomers to Canada to settle down in regional Canada.

 

What are the communities participating in the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot?

Total 11 communities from 5 provinces – Manitoba, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Alberta – are participating in the RNIP.

Why were these 11 communities selected?

Each of the 11 communities were selected as they were considered to an ideal representation of the different regions throughout Canada. These chosen communities were to be considered as the blueprint for the rest of Canada.

 

What will the communities participating in the RNIP get?

All the 11 participating communities in the RNIP will have access to several support systems for testing the new community-driven model aimed at addressing the labour shortage problem in regional Canada.

 

Canadian government is also working with the Canadian territories – Nunavut, Yukon, and Northwest Territories – for coming up with ways to meet the unique immigration needs and requirements of Canada’s North.

 

What communities are accepting applications for RNIP?

Of the 11 participating communities, Sault Ste. Marie (Ontario) and Gretna-Rhineland-Altona-Plum Coulee (Manitoba) are accepting applications.

 

Thunder Bay (Ontario) has announced that it will begin accepting applications from January 2, 2020.

 

Similarly, Brandon (Manitoba) and Claresholm (Alberta) have announced that they will be accepting applications from December 1, 2019 and January 2020 respectively.

With the RNIP, Canada aims at attracting as well as retaining newcomers that have the required skills for contributing towards the success of the rural and northern communities in Canada.

 

The intention to reside in the community is a cornerstone of the RNIP. As per the Canada Gazette [Part I, Vol. 153, No. 33] dated August 17, 2019, to be considered for the RNIP, “the applicant must intend to reside in the community or within a reasonable commuting distance of the community.”

 

According to Terry Sheehan, Member of Parliament for Sault Ste. Marie, “small initiatives can mean big results” for small towns and their future.

 

It is only when the Pilot is launched by all 11 communities that the true extent and reach of the Pilot can be ascertained.

 

2020 is the ideal time for applying for Canada PR through the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot.

 

All those applying under the RNIP will begin arriving in Canada from 2020.

• Around 2,750 principal applicants (with their families) to be approved for PR under RNIP.
• Every community to have its own specific requirements for eligibility, job search process, and application process for community recommendation.
