The growth of Toronto Tech Jobs has surpassed all the cities in Canada and the US for figures of Tech jobs created in the period between 2012 and 2017. It has surpassed even conventional tech hubs such as the San Francisco Bay Area. This has been revealed by the latest study by CBRE Canada.
82,000 Tech jobs were created in Toronto in the 5 years period. This was approximately 4,300 more than the number of San Francisco Bay Area tech jobs in the same period, as quoted by the CIC News.
28,900 Tech jobs were added by Toronto in 2017 alone. This was an increase of 13.6% over 2016. This makes the city the most fast-paced tech market in North America for the 2nd consecutive year.
The report Tech Talent Scoring 2018 produced by CBRE Canada reveals the fastest growing tech markets in the North America region. CBRE Canada is a part of the Los Angeles headquartered Fortune 500 CBRE Group.
The Scorecard for Tech Talent is determined depending on 13 distinct metrics. These include industry outlook for tech job growth, completed tech degrees, cost, concentration, and tech talent supply, growth. Office and Apartment rent cost growth and market outlook for both are also included in these metrics.
CBRE Canada Executive Managing Director Paul Morassutti said that Toronto continues to surpass other North American markets. It added more jobs than Seattle and Washington, D.C. combined as well as San Francisco Bay Area, he said.
Toronto also secured the first place in terms of “Brain Gain”. It is the number of jobs creation minus the figures for Tech degrees awarded in a city from 2012 to 2017. San Francisco Bay Area posted a gain of 46, 529 while Toronto gained 55, 025 in the same period.
