profile-image
By  Editor
Updated March 07 2024

The Global Talent Stream launched by Government of Canada offers fast-track Visa route of just 14 days for most of the In-demand occupations. It reflects the Federal Governments’ enhanced client-focused approach. The Canadian employers are also better guided through the application process now.

Canada GTS operates as a part of the TFWP - Temporary Foreign Worker Program. It is also a part of the broader Global Skills Strategy. GSS made two additional crucial changes to Canada Work visas.

The first change was access to 14 days processing for specific Work Visas exempt from LMIA offered through the Overseas Mobility Program. The second was short-term Work Visa exemptions for 120, 30 or 15 days for Researchers, Professionals, and Managers.

The Global Talent Stream Target Occupations are as below:

Occupation/s

 NOC code

 Engineering Managers 0211
Science and Architecture Managers 0212
Information Systems and Computer Managers 0213
Computer Engineers except Designers and Software Engineers 2147
Statisticians and Mathematicians Sub-set of 2161
Consultants Information Systems and Analysts 2171
Data Administrators and Database Analysts 2172

Canadian businesses have welcomed the launch of GTS, as quoted by the CIC News. They are also demanding its extension beyond the current 2-year pilot expiring in 2019 June. On its first year anniversary, GTS expanded by adding 3 fresh occupations.

Around 2,000 Overseas workers have obtained Canada Work Visa since the launch of GTS. Many more thousands of them are expected to arrive in Canada along with their family members. Even the latter qualify for 14 days processing. Majority of them will also transition to the Canada PR later after their arrival.
