Quebec is the top Canadian province for job vacancies in Q1- 2018

Quebec was the top Canadian province in Q1-2018 for job vacancies as per the latest figures from Statistics Canada. The first quarter of the year witnessed 462 000 job vacancies throughout Canada.

Job vacancies in Quebec increased by 25,000 in Q1-2018 which was an increase of 37% over Q1-2017. 8 Canadian provinces and 3 territories witnessed an increase in jobs. Quebec was the top Canadian province in this regards followed by British Columbia, as quoted by the CIC News.

Q1-2018 was the 7th consecutive quarter witnessing a yearly growth of job vacancies in Quebec as per Statistics Canada. Food Services, Manufacturing, and Accommodation sectors witnessed a maximum increase in jobs in the province.

The greatest increase in job vacancies was recorded by the economic region in Montreal. This region in Quebec witnessed 8,700 plus growth of jobs.

The rate of unemployment in Quebec was 5.5% in Q1-2018. This was leaser than the 6.2% in Q1-2017.

The liberal government of Quebec has estimated that 1 million plus jobs will have to be filled by the year 2024. The skilled overseas immigrant will play a major role in filling these job vacancies, it added.

British Columbia was the second Canadian province in terms of growth of jobs in Q1-2018. It reported 24,000 plus job vacancies which were an increase of 36% over Q1 -2017.
