Eligible for the AAUW International Fellowships in the USA are applicants fulfilling the following criteria:

• Women who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
• Preferred will be women who have shown commitment in the past to the progress of women and girls via municipal, community, or specialized work.
• Hold an educational degree (secured in the US or elsewhere) equivalent to a US bachelor’s program.
• Aim to devote themselves full-time to the planned academic activity during the fellowship year.
• Have intentions of returning to their native countries to pursue a specialized career once they complete their studies
• Be proficient in English and demonstrate the same by getting a high score on the TOEFL or IELTS exam.
• Graduate or first specialized degree and doctorate applicants should apply by November 15 to an accredited college or university for the duration of the fellowship year and should indicate the name of the college or university in the application for the International Fellowship.  
• Applicants for post-doctoral programs need to provide proof of their doctorate programs and state where they intend to carry out their research.
• Graduate or first specialized degree and doctoral applicants should have been admitted to an accredited educational institution located in the United States during the fellowship year.
