Located in the Canton of Neuchâtel, the University of Neuchâtel (UniNE), a public research university is housed in the French-speaking region of Switzerland.
The university consists of four faculties in economics, humanities, law, and science and more than 12 institutes related to arts, natural sciences, economics, and law, among others.
It traces its roots back to 1838 when it was set up as the Academy of Neuchatel. It became a university and got its current name in 1909.

It offers ten undergraduate, 28 postgraduate, and 33 doctorate programs in all.
The tuition fee of the University of Neuchâtel is about $1,750 per year, and the cost of living there amounts to €1,660 to €1,975 per month.
The notable alumni of UniNE include Jean Piaget, a Swiss psychologist, Gianni Infantino Riovaldi, an administrator of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), and Denis de Rougemont, a Swiss writer, among others.
