Founded in 1962 as the Institut International de Glion, Glion Institute of Higher Education was initiated by Swiss professors Frédéric Tissot and Walter Hunziker where earlier a Grand Hôtel Bellevue was located in Montreux, Switzerland.
In 2002, it got its current name and became a part of an American education company, Laureate Education. In the year 2016, Eurazeo, a Paris-based transnational private equity company, acquired it.
Renowned across the hospitality sector for its brilliant graduates, it became one of the top three global hospitality management schools.
