Established in 1997, The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) belongs to the Swiss Confederation’s Universities of Applied Sciences.
An autonomous body, SUPSI, which is deemed a university, was founded by Canton Ticino to focus on applied research and specialized education in Manno, Switzerland.
It offers more than 30 undergraduate and 17 graduate courses, mainly in Swiss-Italian, English, and German.
According to Europe University Rankings, it is ranked 121 across the continent.
It operates from various locations such as Manno, Canobbio, Locarno, Lugano, Verscio, Landquart, and Brig.

It has 5,800 students (including in continuing education), of whom 30 percent are foreign nationals. It has three affiliated schools: the Swiss Distance University of Applied Sciences (FFHS), the ccademia Teatro Dimitri, and the University of Music (SUM).
The tuition fees at SUPSI are €1,660 per semester, and the cost of living varies from €1,150 to €1,725 per month.
