Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), also known as the University of Lugano in the English-speaking world, is one of Switzerland’s 12 public universities that are certiified. It is a self-governing educational institution that the public law of Switzerland regulates and is, therefore, detached from public administration.
It houses six faculties in architecture, culture and society communication, economics, informatics, and theology and biomedical sciences, besides two affiliated institutions in the Institute of Oncology Research and the Institute for Research in Biomedicine.
