The University of Sheffield, known also as Sheffield University or TUOS, is a public university located in Sheffield, United Kingdom. The University of Sheffield was formed when three institutions were merged in 1897 and it received a royal charter in 1905.
The University of Sheffield does not have a demarcated campus, but the majority of its 430 buildings are located fairly close to each other. The area in Main Campus is in Western Bank and another important campus is in the St George’s area.
Sheffield comprises five faculties and one international faculty that are further divided into 50 academic departments. The Faculty of Engineering has departments of Aerospace Engineering, Automatic Control and Systems Engineering, Bioengineering, Chemical, and Biological Engineering, Civil and Structural Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
