Boston University, or BU, is a private university located in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1839 in Newbury, Vermont, it shifted to Boston in 1867.
The university, which has more than 33,670 students, offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degree programs. Through 17 schools and colleges on three campuses, it offers business, medical, and law degrees. The main campus is situated along the Charles River and is a mile and a half long.
Foreign nationals comprise about a third of its student population. Out of the total student population, 14,000 of them are enrolled in the College of Arts and Science, Business School, and College of Engineering.
