A digital nomad visa is a program that gives someone the legal right to work remotely while residing away from their country of permanent residence. Remote work has brought more flexibility and freedom to people’s lives, along with the option to work from the most scenic destinations.

 

There are specific visas that give them the legal right to work remotely in a country that’s not their home country for a specified period. These visas may be known by different names in each country - a remote work visa, a freelance visa, a digital nomad visa.

 

Digital Nomad Visa for Indians

 

For Indian passport holders, visa applications can often be a complex process involving mountains of paperwork, however, there are some countries that offer Indian passport holders visas to work remotely.

 

Italy Digital Nomad Visa
 

Italy is a country located in Southern Europe comprising the boot-shaped Italian peninsula and a number of islands including Sicily and Sardinia. Italy is one of the world's favorite holiday destinations. But now the Mediterranean country is becoming a favorite for digital nomads.

 

Eligibility & Requirements
 

  • Hold a three-year bachelor’s degree or higher education qualification.
  • Demonstrate an income of three times the minimum level required for exemption from participation in healthcare costs, equivalent to approximately €28,000 annually or about $30,400
  • Hold a superior professional qualification supported by at least five years of professional experience.
  • Work Experience: Applicants must document at least six months of experience in the industry in which they intend to work remotely.
     

Norway Digital Nomad Visa
 

Norway is a Scandinavian country encompassing mountains, glaciers and deep coastal fjords. Oslo, the capital, is a city of green spaces and museums. The Norway digital nomad visa enables foreign nationals who meet the required criteria to live in Norway while working remotely. The fjords, ski resorts and the chance to see the northern lights make it one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

 

Eligibility & Requirements
 

  • Must be Self Employed or working for a non-Norwegian company
  • Must have Proof of a minimum gross annual income of €35,719
  • A contract with a Norwegian client must state the minimum salary for a skilled employee which is set at 189,39 NOK per hour (approx. 40 euros per hour)

 

Portugal Digital Nomad Visa

This European destination offers beaches, lively cities and ancient architecture.

  • Proof of minimum 3 years of work experience and expertise in your area of work to be able to work remotely
  • Must show earning of €2,160 per month or €25,920 per year
  • You should not have stayed in Spain in the last 5 years

 

Seychelles Digital Nomad Visa


The Republic of Seychelles is made up of 115 beautiful green islands located in the Indian Ocean. The capital of Seychelles is Victoria and is located on Mahé Island. It is an excellent destination for digital nomads who want to be in the center of things and have convenient travel access to other islands. It also has the mountain rainforests of Morne Seychellois National Park and beaches, including Beau Vallon and Anse Takamaka.

  • Maintained bank balance of $54,600 USD net for the last 12 months

OR

  • Earned $3,275 USD net per month for the last 6 months (If bringing a spouse or dependent, this amount increases by $861 for each family member)

  • Own a Mexican property valued at least $457,500 USD

 

Costa Rica Digital Nomad Visa
 

The Central American country of Costa Rica is biodiverse. Travelers descend upon the country for its rainforests, beaches, mountains, coffee and food. This beautiful country is known for its stunning beaches, lush rainforests, and incredible wildlife.

  • Proof of earning a monthly income of at least $3,000
  • You must be employed by a company or self-employed or freelancer based outside Costa Rica
