Why work in Malaysia?

  • Flexible working opportunities
  • Plenty of job opportunities
  • Low cost of living
  • Excellent healthcare facility

Malaysia is known for its vibrant blend of cultures and prospering economy. Many international companies base their headquarters there.

This, combined with the country’s affordable living costs, makes Malaysia a popular choice among Indians looking to fast-track their employment. You can get five types of Malaysia employment visas based on the nature of your job and length of stay.

Migrate to Malaysia via a Work Visa

A Malaysia work visa is a work permit that allows foreign nationals to work in Malaysia for a particular period. All foreign nationals must have a work permit to take up any work legally in Malaysia for an extended period. If you are an Indian passport holder, a Malaysian work visa for Indians is compulsory. As a foreign national seeking to work in Malaysia, it is mandatory to have a Malaysian company hire you. Then, your employer must apply for a Malaysia work visa on your behalf. Since a Malaysia eVisa allows individuals to stay for a maximum period of 30 days and is only provided for tourism or business purposes, a Malaysia work visa will help you stay in Malaysia longer.

Types of Malaysia work visa

Malaysia employment pass

The Malaysia Employment Pass is given to highly qualified foreign nationals hired by a Malaysian company for managerial or technical roles. However, the Malaysian employer must obtain approval from the appropriate regulatory authority before issuing this employment pass.

This work permit is valid for 1 to 5 years, with the possibility of renewal on a case-by-case basis.

Malaysia temporary employment pass

Malaysia temporary employment pass has two categories that are listed below:

Foreign Worker Temporary Employment Pass

This Pass allows foreign workers to work in the Construction, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Plantation, and Services industries. Citizens of approved countries can receive this Foreign Worker Temporary Employment Pass.

The Foreign Domestic Helper (FDH) Temporary Employment Pass

This pass is issued to female workers from approved countries. International workers must work in the home of their employer, who may have young children or elderly parents to care for.

The Professional Visit Pass

This pass is issued to foreign workers who are required to come to Malaysia on temporary work (up to 12 months).
