In the latest provincial draw held by Manitoba on November 5, 2020, a total of 205 invitations – also referred to as Letters of Advice to Apply [LAAs] – were issued. Those invited can now apply to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program [MPNP] for a provincial nomination.
The previous MPNP draw was held on October 22, 2020.
With around 80 immigration pathways, the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada offers various ‘streams’ or immigration pathways, all leading to Canada permanent residence. While there are certain streams linked with the federal Express Entry system, many run independently.
An Express Entry candidate that is successful in securing a PNP nomination is allotted an additional 600 points towards their Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] score, thereby guaranteeing that they are issued an invitation to apply in the next Express Entry draw held by the federal government of Canada.
In the latest MPNP draw, of the 205 LAAs issued, 7 went to Express Entry candidates, that is, “to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry ID and job seeker validation code”.
EOI Draw #102 - Date of Draw – November 5, 2020 - Total LAAs issued: 205 | ||
Category | Letters of Advice to Apply [LAAs] sent | Minimum EOI score required |
Skilled Workers Overseas | 16 Directly invited under Strategic Recruitment Initiative. | 708 |
Skilled Workers in Manitoba | 166 | 461 |
International Education Stream | 23 | No EOI score required. |
The Skilled Worker stream of the MPNP is locally driven and in keeping with the specific needs and requirements of the Manitoba employers. Internationally trained as well as experienced workers – possessing the skills in demand in the local labour market in the province – are selected through the MPNP.
These are then nominated through the PNP of Manitoba, allowing them to apply to IRCC for Canadian permanent residence.
The Skilled Workers in Manitoba nominates applicants with a strong connection – mainly in the form of an “ongoing Manitoba employment” – to the province. The Skilled Worker Overseas, on the other hand, is for applicants that are able to demonstrate “an established connection” to Manitoba.
The International Education category of the MPNP is for Manitoba graduates, that is, international students graduating from any higher education institution in the province. Manitoba graduates meeting the requirements of the local industry in the province get a faster pathway to a nomination through the MPNP.
The International Education Stream [IES] of the MPNP has 3 separate pathways –
The International Student Entrepreneur Pilot |
The Career Employment Pathway |
The Graduate Internship Pathway |
With the latest draw, a total of 4,273 invitations have been issued by the MPNP in 2020 so far.
For 2020, the MPNP has an allotment of 5,000 base nominations, along with 875 Express Entry spaces.
