On January 7, 2021, the province of Saskatchewan in Canada has held its first provincial draw of 2021. A total of 385 Canada immigration candidates have received invitations to apply for a nomination through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program [SINP].
While 148 candidates were invited through the SINP immigration pathway of Express Entry, another 237 were issued invitations through the SINP’s Occupations In-Demand category. 71 was the minimum score required for a candidate to be invited to apply in either of the categories.
600 CRS points are allotted to an Express Entry candidate that is able to secure a nomination through the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada. By ‘CRS’ here is implied the ranking score based on the Comprehensive Ranking System that comes into play when the profiles are in the federal Express Entry pool. As the highest-ranked Express Entry profiles are issued invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence, a PNP nomination is a guarantee of the candidate being invited in the next federal draw. A record 107,350 invitations to apply [ITAs] were issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] in the total 37 draws held throughout the year. |
The International Skilled Worker: Occupations In-Demand ‘stream’ or immigration pathway is for foreign skilled workers that are highly skilled in any of the in-demand occupations but don’t have a job offer in Saskatchewan, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
The SINP’s International Skilled Worker: Saskatchewan Express Entry, on the other hand, is for those with their profile in the IRCC Express Entry pool that intend living and working within Saskatchewan.

The score here is the “EOI score” allotted on the SINP point assessment grid.
After registering their Expression of Interest [EOI] profile with the SINP, the individual is given a score [based on factors like age, education, language ability, work experience, and connection to Saskatchewan].
An International Skilled Worker EOI submission to the SINP is not an application as such. An EOI is only a kind of a pre-application that indicates the interest of the candidate in applying to the SINP, and also showcases their qualifications to the SINP.
Candidates with the skills required in the local job market in Saskatchewan are selected from the International Skilled Worker EOI system. It is the candidates selected by the SINP that are issued an “invitation to apply” in the provincial draws by the SINP that are typically held on a bi-monthly basis.
