Updated November 12 2024

You must gain at least 67 points to be eligible for the Express Entry program. You can immigrate to Canada and apply for permanent residence in Canada through the Express Entry program if you score the minimum required points. You will be assessed based on different criteria, such as age, education, work experience, qualifications, language skills, adaptability, etc. Each candidate will be allotted an overall score of 100 based on the selection factors. However, securing 67 eligibility points on the grid does not directly grant you Canada PR but helps you become eligible to apply for it.

Tips to improve your CRS score

IRCC conducts regular Express Entry Draws, allowing you to improve your CRS score. Here are some  tips you can follow to boost your CRS score and qualify for permanent residence in Canada:

Upgrade your language proficiency scores: Boosting your English language proficiency scores can directly impact your overall CRS score. You can take additional language courses to improve your test scores.

For example, Scoring CLB Level 9 can get you 136 points and an additional 74 points for a French test.

Provincial nomination: You can score a maximum of 600 points if you have a nomination from any Canadian province.

Get an employment offer: You will get up to 200 points if you have a valid job offer from an LMIA-approved employer.

Canadian education: You can gain an additional 30 points if you have Canada-recognized educational qualifications (degree/diploma)

Including your dependents in the application (Common-law partner/spouse): If you and your spouse are included in your application, you and the spouse can get additional points. A maximum of 40 points can be given for the language proficiency, educational qualifications, and work experience criteria.

Work experience in Canada: You will be given a maximum of 180 points if you have less than 3 years of work experience and wish to continue your employment there.
